JOHN FIELDS, DIRECTOR OF GOLF
John P. Fields, Director of Golf, came to Belmont in 1991 as the Head Professional and was promoted to the Director of Golf positon in 1998. John’s responsibilities encompass entire golf operations at Belmont, including budgeting, planning golf tournaments, member events, golf instructional programs and overseeing the daily functioning of the golf shop merchandising program.
While attending Lees McRae Jr. College in 1983, John began his career in golf working summers as the starter/ranger at Grandfather Golf and Country Club in Linville, North Carolina. In 1984, John was promoted to the second assistant golf professional under Rick Anderson, where he continued to work throughout his college days at East Tennessee State University.
After college, John moved to Bergen Country, New Jersey where he accepted the position of second assistant professional at Alpine Country Club. In the fall of 1986, John moved from New Jersey to Palm Beach Florida, where he became the first assistant at the Palm Beach Country Club and worked there from the fall of 1986 to 1999.
In 2015 John Fields was awarded Golf Professional of the Year by the Massachusetts Chapter of the New England Professional Golf Association and in 2018 John Fields accepted the Merchandiser of the Year award (Private Facility) from the New England Professional Association as well as the Platinum Award from the Association of Golf Merchandisers for Top 100 Private Golf Shops in the country.
A PGA member since 1991, John has played in numerous PGA tour events, including the CVS Pleasant Valley Classic, the Maine Classic-Nike Tour Event at Woodland TPC. John competed from 1988-1991 on the Space Coast and Gold Coast mini tours and has won both the NEPGA Pro-Pro Stroke Play Championship and the NEPA Pro-Pro Match Play Championship.
John is a sitting member of the American Golf Merchandisers Association, Francis Ouimet Scholarship, New England Professional Golfers Association board of Directors.
John is married to wife Lisa and together they have six children. Stephen Tzianbos 24, Ryan Fields 23, Amber Fields 22, Jack Tzianbos 21, Heather Fields 19 & Alison Tzianbos 18.
